Iconic cafe for important meetings opposite the National Theatre

Slavia is the most famous Prague cafe with a rich history, a magical atmosphere and a wonderful view of Prague Castle, the Vltava River and Petřín.

A great place for intimate meetings or important cultural and other events. Since its inception, Slavia has attracted artists. Due to its convenient location opposite the National Theatre, most of the actors ended up here after the performance. They were often accompanied by composer Bedřich Smetana and director Jaroslav Kvapil.

In the last century, Slavia became the epicenter of Czech culture. Writers Karel and Josef Čapkov, Arnošt Lustig, art theorists Karel Teige and Václav Černý, poets Vítězslav Nezval and Jaroslav Seifert, painters Jan Zrzavý and Václav Špála met here. Czech journalist Ferdinand Peroutka used to sit here while writing Budování statu, who had the necessary literature brought here from the Castle (which he rarely returned to President Masaryk afterwards). Slavia beat. She experienced the funeral processions of Tomáš G. Masaryk and Vítězslav Nezval, as well as the beginning of the Velvet Revolution or the visit of Hillary Clinton. If it can be said that Czech thought was regularly and long-term concentrated somewhere, it was precisely here.
